Girl Scouts

Last night, Arleigh became a Junior Girl Scout. There was a sweet little ceremony. The girls made the food, decorated the room, wrote and performed skits and were sworn into a wonderful organization.

It's been a long time since I was a brownie. I still remember preparing an expo on Guatemala and learning about that culture. I have fond memories of Beth Bougher's mom being our fearless leader. I remember the jamboree and wondering in my Mom would let me go camping. That was a long time ago.

I have a hard time with the girls and their schedules. We make an effort to not over schedule them. There are times when I've told Arleigh she couldn't do something. Last weekend was an example. She didn't go to the Botanical Gardens because of her sister's birthday party. She missed a corn maize because we were on our way to Kentucky. Even missing all she's missed, she was awarded a Safety Badge, First Aid Badge and Girl Scouting in the USA badge last night. I think we're off to a great start.

Hanan is going to be right behind her. Her Brownie troop is going to have their first meeting next week.

Go Arleigh!! I know as a child, it is hard to miss things, but you sound like you know how to balance things out for her. Good for all of you!
