Congrats CDR Stiff

Yesterday Ray was promoted to Commander. It was a very nice day for all of us. This is the first time he was promoted at home. He's been deployed every time a promotion came up. His last promotion happened in Iraq which was neat and memorable for him, but I so wanted to see it just once.

Captain O'Connor presided over the ceremony. It is always so nice to hear someone else say all the wonderful things that you already know about your husband. It's also a nice affirmation for all of us as a military family. After Ray was sworn in, the girls and I got to attach his new shoulder boards. Poor Arleigh was nervous but she ate up every minute of it.

A funny moment came when the I overheard the girls talking about what would be happening. Arleigh says to Hanan, "It's kind of like when we get Super Citizen at school, but EVEN BIGGER!" We got a pretty good chuckle out of that.

Bria was her firecracker self but very good through the entire ceremony. The only time she gave me fits was when she realized she could reach the food table. Then it became a free for all. Luckily most people were gone by then.

This was a good day indeed. Congratulations CDR Stiff. I love you and I'm proud of you. I'm thankful for everything you do for both country and family. You're the best!

How wonderful! I'm glad the family got to be there, too. I'm sure he'd agree that he couldn't have made it without you!
