Ready Or Not...

When we got home from the wedding I noticed that Jessa's rose is in full bloom again. It's warming up. Things are blooming. Watching that rose bush change and grow gives me mixed emotions. So I thought it was an appropriate image for our big announcement... (Let me warn you that it may not be as exciting for you as it was for our immediate family members.)

We're moving to Memphis! Well, the suburbs of Memphis. Ray is expecting orders that will put him at Millington. That means we will actually be close to family, still in the south and all things we wanted out of a duty station. All things except for packing up all the friends that have become like family here and moving them with us. We might try to throw a couple of families in the back of the moving truck.

Yes, I'm excited. There are lots of possibilities for the future. I might actually get a weekend away with Ray now that we will be close enough to drop off the kids. Our families have been great. We are truly blesed with understanding families. I would never have imagined 14 years ago that my mom would be so supportive of our military lifestyle. She's jumped right in, even flying to Iceland to babysit Arleigh while we went to a ball. She has dropped everything and come to us wherever we are in the world when we've needed her. Not many people would do that. (Oh yeah Mom, we need you again in Nov./Dec. when we pack out.)

While we are so excited to be close to family, I'm apprehensive about relocating the girls knowing in 2 years we will jerk them out of our families' arms and move them again. I hate hate hate leaving our church. I hate hate hate to think that Bria won't have Mrs. King as her kindergarten teacher. So many memories good and bad were made in this house. Letting go will be hard.

We aren't sure if we will try to sell or rent, buy or rent. We are looking for a good school district, open floor plan and bedrooms big enough for the girls to share. Actually, that's what I'm looking for. Ray is looking for as much land as possible. Arleigh and Hanan are looking for a swimming pool. Bria wants to make sure her lamby and blankey are packed for the trip. Tucker is just making sure we take him along. Tucker and I are both looking for a way to dump the cats before we move. Of course, we've been out voted.

There is so much to be done. Eight months doesn't seem like enough to time to finish it. It's an adventure and we're up for it. Memphis, ready or not, here we come!

Yeah . . . . I can't say that I'm as excited as you about your big news. I was looking forward to more time with you and your family! But that is that with the military - it will happen to us in 2 1/2 years. So, I'll suck it up and be happy for you! Congrats!!!! I know your family will LOVE it! : )
