The Shack

It is not a rare thing for me to get wrapped up in a book and want to finish it immediately. It is rare for me to read a book and want to call everyone I know and tell them to read it. For instance, I started the Twighlight series and somehow feel some sort of embarrassment just for having read it. I realize after the movie's opening that I am in the minority on this.

Well, I just finished a book in a little more than 24 hours with 3 children and numerous responsibilities, in the middle of starting painting the kitchen. (Ray was painting. I'm not allowed but I try to be a good helper.) I truly want to call everyone I know and tell them to read this book.

I bought this book several months ago along with another one that I started and didn't finish. I don't know if I could stand to read it any earlier. I've talked alot about grief. In the last 3 months, I've been in some pretty dark places. I had all sorts of questions and no answers. While I still have no answers, this book seems to have pointed me in a direction of peace even in the absence of the answers I thought I needed.

I don't want to ruin the book. I don't want to tell you anything else. I'm telling you, get to the library, or the nearest book store or Wal-Mart for the matter and pick up this book. While you're there, make sure you are stocked up on tissues or if you are like us, toilet paper. (I think tissues are a serious waste money in my house since my kids can blow through a box in about 45 seconds.)

Enjoy reading it and then tell me what you think. I would love to discuss it with you.
